The months are ticking by quickly this year... the margarita glow of Cinco de Mayo makes way for Mother's Day, then Dad and Grad are upon us as the temperature rises! Last week, it seemed we were cutting oilcloth for most orders, interspersed with orders for sugar skull making supplies. I have no idea why folks are making sugar skulls in May, but they are! But they store well - perhaps they are making hundreds and packing them away for sugar skull decorating parties in October. One group of bridesmaids made a decorated skull for each place setting at the reception. Sure beats a bag of Jordan almonds! Let me mention that our popular, light weight Marigold Sugar Skull T-shirt is our featured item and reduced in price from $24 to $15. They run a little small, but they go to 2X. After much contact with my friends in Mexico this past week, I'm reassured that there are no worries for an upcoming trip to Mexico! Can't wait to enjoy inexpensive and uncrowded beaches of Puerto Escondido and the quaint Colonial city of Oaxaca which is filled with the best Mexican folk art, woven rugs and great food in Mexico! Oaxaca is a treasure trove of hundreds of craft shops filled with Day of the Dead merchandise for those of us who love to collect! If you aren't packing a bag, headed for points south, we did just receive three boxes of new merchandise this week for those who want first "dibs" at our new finds. New milagros make wonderful gifts for wedding favors or a favorite friend. The little flaming heart is what I wear on a thin leather string. We have a new artist making the cutest winged hearts that are nicely painted to hang in windows, on presents or anywhere to make you happy. The best surprise were the new, smaller oilcloth tote bags that are way cool! Lined in contrasting oilcloth, these bags make great summer handbags and double as market bags or gym bags.
